Heat Shrink Boots

Heat shrink boots are moulded parts that can provide strain relief (relieving pressure from the cable) and protection on cable assemblies. Heat shrink boots and shapes are available in straight and right angled types and can be assembled into T and Y shaped breakout joints for use in various electrical and electronic applications.

Heat shrink boots are made from materials such as polyolefin which is derived from polyethylene and is one of the most commonly used insulating materials being highly durable, fast shrinking and can withstand high temperatures without a restricted shelf life. Others include PVC, fluoropolymer, neoprene and elastomeric materials. These moulded boots also have high electric strength, mechanical toughness and great chemical and abrasion resistance.

Applications

Heat shrink boots, heat shrink moulded shapes, tubing, end caps and insulation are frequently used to weatherproof or otherwise protect exposed connections or cable ends. They are an efficient way to seal wiring that is not covered by a cable sheath, and so are used in many kinds of electrical installations, from manufacturing to domestic wiring.
